Let the end of the year get a little behind me with all of the festivities of fall/winter happening and then of course the holidays. So here is a quick look at Zoe’s first United Nations Day parade at school, her first circus, and her tea party at school.
First, the UN Day parade. One goal her school prides themselves on is “developing good citizens of the WORLD” and they take this very seriously. Even in her class of 3-6 year olds, they study flags of countries and different culture. At night when we tell stories, we ask her where she wants the setting of the story to be, and she has already answered “Bolivia”, which I had to go Goggle to figure out where it was. So every year they have a UN Day parade and carry the flags of different countries. She also had to help one of the toddlers walk in the parade. She was so proud!
Next was the circus. We donated to some organization and as a gift for donating they gave us 2 free tickets a the circus. This was the Shiners Circus I think, so no Barnum and Bailey but free and we went. After they tried to break the bank with offering of souvenirs, food, and elephant rides (yes at the low low cost of $20 a person, which we didn’t do) we left at intermission. You can tell by the look on her face in the picture, she was less then thrilled with the circus. She didn’t really understand the performances. The best part of her circus day was the stuffed elephant on a stick that I bought her and which she promptly took the stick off and terrorizes the cat with it daily.
And lastly, the Tea Party at school. This was an interesting concept. This was the inaugural tea party and the parents brought food and their own tea cup (forgot mine and had to swing into Home Goods store on the way to grab one) while the kids had their own little tea cups they had practiced with all week. Problem was that it lasted a bit too long for toddlers to stay seated so by the end we were more than ready to get it over with.
