The end of May held an event that Zoe and I had been looking forward to since December. I was probably way more excited about it than Z. No probably about it, I was absolutely more excited about it. It was not only going to be a great time in the woods, cabin camping with my baby girl and my Dad, and spending time with our friends, but it was for an absolutely fabulous cause. The idea Camp Luck was born from Jacob Jackson (1993-2010). He was a young man with a severe heart defect that was always looking for ways to mentor other kids with heart defects as well. As he grew, his mom had difficulty finding places he could meet other heart kids. They eventually did find some camps in Hawaii and California but nothing close to NC. So when he was 16, he and his mom founded Camp Luck (Lucky Unlimited Cardiac Kids). A camp for heart kids and their families, to be held every May at Camp Cherokee in Kings Mountain State Park , SC. Jacob passed away 3 months before his 18th birthday and now Camp Luck is a tribute to him and his dreams, So for 1 weekend, these kids and their families get to forget about their differences and be kids. It is only $25 per person, paying for tshirts for all, all meals, cabin rental, and activities. a great cause to donate to if you or your organization are in need of a good cause. Here are some pic of our weekend. Can’t wait until next May.
